Podcast Player Integration
Selfhost Podcasting can integrate with the Podcast Player WordPress plugin. The integration can register a Selfhost feed with Podcast Player and optionally insert a player into new episode posts.
Requirements
- Podcast Player must be installed and active.
- The podcast should be public. Private podcasts are skipped or disconnected from managed public Podcast Player assets.
Open settings
- Open a podcast.
- Go to Connect Services.
- Open Podcast Player.
- Change settings.
- Click Save Connection.
If Podcast Player is not active, the service screen shows an install/activate notice instead of settings.
Settings
- Automatically add podcast player to newly created episode post.
- Share show details with Podcast Player.
- Insert method: Editor Block or Shortcode.
- Display style.
- Accent color.
- Hide Episode Download Button.
- Hide Social Sharing Button.
Sync behavior
The integration can update Podcast Player when podcasts, episodes, media, privacy, migration, or feed takeover state changes. It can register managed player data, refresh feed information, hand off matching migrated feed URLs, and delete managed assets when a podcast is deleted.
Private podcast behavior
Private tokenized feeds should not be registered as public player sources. When a podcast becomes private, Selfhost skips or removes managed public Podcast Player data for that podcast.
Troubleshooting
Settings are missing
Install and activate Podcast Player, then reload the Selfhost podcast screen.
Player does not appear in older posts
Automatic insertion applies to newly created episode posts. Existing posts may need manual editing.
Podcast Player still shows an old managed feed
Disable the Selfhost Podcast Player option and remove any stale feed entry from Podcast Player if needed.
