WP Widget

While WordPress is transitioning to editor blocks, you can still use traditional widgets by installing the Classic Widgets plugin. This allows you to place your Podcast Player in various widget-ready areas like sidebars, footers, or headers. Here’s how you can add the Podcast Player widget to your WordPress website.

Step-by-Step Guide to Adding a Podcast Player Widget

Step 1: Install the Classic Widgets Plugin

Since WordPress is phasing out native widgets in favor of editor blocks, you’ll need to install the Classic Widgets plugin to continue using the older widget functionality.

  1. Go to Plugins > Add New in your WordPress dashboard.
  2. Search for Classic Widgets in the search bar.
  3. Install and activate the plugin.

This will restore the old widget system, allowing you to add classic widgets like the Podcast Player.

Step 2: Access the Widgets Page

  1. In your WordPress dashboard, navigate to Appearance > Widgets.
  2. This will take you to the Widgets page where you can manage and place widgets in your site’s widget-ready areas.

Step 3: Choose a Widget Area

  1. On the Widgets page, you’ll see a list of widget-ready areas on the right side. These areas are defined by your theme and could include:
    • Sidebars
    • Footers
    • Headers
    • Other custom widget areas
  2. Choose the area where you want to add the podcast player.

Step 4: Add the Podcast Player Widget

  1. In the available widgets list on the left, look for the Podcast Player widget.
  2. Drag and drop the Podcast Player widget into your desired widget area.

Step 5: Configure the Podcast Player Widget

Once you’ve placed the widget, you can configure its settings:

  1. Enter Your Podcast Feed URL: In the widget settings, you’ll find a field to enter your Podcast Feed URL.
  2. Customize the Player: Depending on the podcast player plugin you’re using, additional customization options may be available, such as:
    • Display style options
    • Show/hide player elements
    • Changing colors to match your branding

These settings are generally easy to adjust and can be found within the widget configuration panel.

Step 6: Save Your Changes

  1. After configuring the podcast player, make sure to click the “Save” button to apply your changes.
  2. Your Podcast Player will now be live and visible on your website in the widget area you selected.
