Third Party Analytics
Selfhost Podcasting can prepend an analytics prefix to episode media URLs. This lets an external podcast analytics provider measure downloads before redirecting listeners to the actual media file.
Open settings
- Open a podcast.
- Go to Connect Services.
- Open Third Party Analytics.
- Enter the provider prefix URL.
- Click Save Connection.
Prefix behavior
The prefix is applied to episode media URLs in the feed. The provider receives listener requests before the request reaches your media host.
Common provider examples include:
- Podtrac.
- Blubrry.
- OP3.
Use the exact prefix format supplied by your provider. A malformed prefix can break playback.
Privacy note
Analytics providers may receive request metadata such as media URL, IP-derived information, user agent, request time, range headers, and referrer data depending on their implementation. Update your privacy policy before enabling a provider.
Troubleshooting
Downloads stop working
Remove the prefix and test the raw media URL. If playback works without the prefix, check the provider's required URL format.
Analytics are missing
Confirm the feed is using the prefixed enclosure URL and that podcast apps have refreshed the feed.
