Glossary of Terms
Before we dive in, let’s clarify some common podcasting terminology:
- RSS Feed: A special URL that tells podcast apps where your audio files are and provides information about your show. Think of it as your podcast’s “address” on the internet.
- Metadata: Information about your show or episode (like Title, Author, Season Number, or Description).
- Enclosure: The actual link to your audio file (typically an `.mp3` file).
- Distribution: The process of submitting your RSS Feed URL to platforms like Apple Podcasts and Spotify so they can list your show.
- Show Notes: The description and additional information for each episode (can include links, timestamps, etc.).
- iTunes Category: The category/subcategory where your podcast appears in Apple Podcasts and other directories.
- Explicit Content: Flag indicating whether your podcast contains adult language or themes.
- Episode Type: Classification of episodes as Full (regular), Trailer (preview), or Bonus (extra content).
