Splitting a feed allows you to take one large show and create smaller, niche "Spin-off" feeds.
Scenario: The "Interviews Only" Feed
Imagine you have a weekly podcast that includes news updates and long-form interviews. You want to create a separate feed that contains only the interviews.
Step 1: Add Your Main Show as a Source
- Add your main RSS feed as a source in your project.
- Wait for the sync to index all your existing episodes.
Step 2: Create Your "Spin-off" Output
- Create a new Output Feed titled "My Show: The Interviews."
- Give it a specific slug like
my-show-interviews.
Step 3: Selective Mapping
- Go to the Library and filter by your main show source.
- Identify the interview episodes.
- Map only those interview episodes to the new "Interviews" Output feed.
- Leave the news updates unmapped (or map them to a different output!).
Step 4: Maintaining the Split
As you release new episodes on your main show:
- The plugin will detect the new episode.
- Go to your library.
- If the new episode is an interview, add it to your spin-off output.
- If it's a news update, ignore it or add it to its respective feed.
This allows you to cater to different segments of your audience with tailored content.
